Emergency Room services are NOT COVERED under the Student Life Fee; these services will be charged to the student and/or their insurance. It is important that you tell the E.R. staff you are a student, and that you take your insurance card with you.

Nurse Advice Line

The Nurse Advice Line is able to contact the SCC Physician-on-Call through an after-hours paging service for University of Chicago students if deemed necessary.

Urgent Care is available Saturday mornings (8:30-10:30) when the SCC is closed and you have an urgent medical need, such as a sprain, fever, severe pain, etc. Call for an appointment. The Urgent Care center is covered by the Student Life Fee.

Call the SCC and ask to speak with a nurse. The SCC is an appointment based clinic. DO NOT go to the SCC without calling first.

If you were sexually assaulted:

If an injury makes it difficult for a student to maneuver about the campus, the student may be placed on the Injured Student Transportation List with the University Police. Transportation is provided only for the injured student to and from University classes, to and from the Library for studying, to and from medical treatments at the University Hospitals, and to and from residence halls for meals.

Appropriate to the nature of the injury, the student may also be referred to other available resources on campus to support him or her while injured. Relevant offices on campus include:

Advisor, Department Head, or Area Dean of Students (for academic needs or classroom difficulties)
