Grad Consultation
Consultation for Professional Schools and Graduate Divisions
Student Case Management (SCM) staff are providing consultation to professional schools and graduate divisions to:
- Support graduate/professional area Deans of Students.
- Identify early signs of students in distress to reduce elevated risks.
- Increase awareness of campus resources.
- Streamline communication and information sharing.
- Determine appropriate referrals to SCM and other campus resources.
After consultation and referral, the following services may be provided to students:
- Outreach and support
- Assessments to identify student needs
- Referrals and resources
- Intervention plans and goals
- Point of contact and advocacy
- Follow-up meetings
Recommendations can be provided, but the SCM scope of practice does not include:
- Providing immediate crisis intervention.
- Managing financial concerns related to a students’ cost of attendance.
- Managing conduct processes.
- Managing grade grievances and issues related to academic integrity.
- Managing student/faculty disputes.
- Providing legal counsel or legal advice.
- Providing medical advice or mental health treatment.
- Addressing matters related to graduate union contract.
Graduate Consultation is only open to staff members. If you are a student who is interested in case management, please speak with your Dean of Students.
